Yes, it’s going to cost money for this level of freelance editing. Probably a lot more than you thought it would cost.
I get it. Especially if you’re a newbie author who wonders if you will ever make a dime off your novel. But maybe, with my help, your book will make some money. And maybe, I can teach you to be a better writer, too. So, think of it as an investment in your current work and your future work.
Every client is different so I won’t throw out ballpark estimates on this page. Estimates depend on a range of items such as word count, type of editing required, due date, etc. (For reference, standard editing rates are $.02 USD per word of a document, 250 words per page. As I said, my rate will depend on your project – TBD.)
Here’s how it will work:
- After your initial contact, I offer a free 30-minute consultation to take place via Zoom or email, your choice. We will discuss your project in detail then. This enables me to make a cost estimate.
- Next, you can submit the first 2,000 words of your document for a free sample edit. This enables you to see what I can provide, and helps us both to decide if we want to proceed.
- I’ll draft a written contract for the project with all the parameters we’ve discussed and send it to you online for acceptance.
- Then, we can get to work! I require 50% of the payment upfront (via PayPal or Venmo) and 50% at the end.
